Silk is renowned for being a delicate fabric and, in India, silk saris are reserved for only the finest of occasions. When one of these beautiful garments gets torn, worn or stained, it may no longer be suitable for wedding finery, but the unaffected sections of fabric are saved and used to produce these beautiful patchwork throws. The handmade quilt is hand embroidered onto a backing layer of 100% cotton using coloured thread, which provides added durability and interest.
